Stefanie Leavy

Hello!  My name is Stefanie Leavy and this is my second year as a citizen of the Unquowa community.  Born and raised in Fairfield, Ct., I studied elementary education at the University of Vermont and graduated in 2004.  I am currently pursuing my masters from Sacred Heart University with a focus in Literacy.  In addition to student teaching in the fourth grade in Winooski, Vermont, I have had a wide range of experiences working with children of many different ages and from many different backgrounds.  My experiences include working with children with autism spectrum disorder and bilingual students at the American School of Milan in Italy.

In addition to teaching the 2nd grade at Unquowa, I organize the upper school Ski Club.  I also assistant coach the JV and Green soccer teams.  Go Gators!!

My interests outside of school include traveling, skiing, hiking, camping, tennis, and music.   This summer I traveled throughout western Europe as a teacher leader with a group of student ambassadors through a program called People to People.  To learn more about it, visit www.studentambassadors.org.

Mission for the Class

It is my hope that we all work together to establish a sense of community, within the classroom and school, that fosters inquiry, risk taking and an overall life-long love of learning that spans all subjects.
