2nd Grade Homework:
Homework in the 2nd grade should take no longer than 20-25 minutes. It consists of Spelling, and on some nights Math. We play lots of math games in 2nd grade to reinforce basic math skills. When a new game is introduced, I will send a copy home with directions for independent practice.
Spelling books go home on Mondays and are due on Fridays with the unit activities completed. The review, challenge and technology pages are optional, but students will receive extra credit on their spelling tests (on Fridays) if they get the challenge words correct!
In addition, students are encouraged to practice their "math facts" on a nightly basis. Find fun ways to do this! Play "Around the World" at dinner, practice them in the car, or make a "Math Facts Memory" game!
Lastly, but certainly not least, read Read READ!! Every night!! Read in front of your child, read to your child, have them read by themselves, or to you! Help to develop your child's positive attitude towards reading!
